Female Talent Fund
Developed in 2022, the CUI Female Talent Fund is a scouting program designed to increase the proportion of women in the Cluster. As part of the program, leading scientists can apply for Ph.D. positions created specifically for this purpose, for which they can nominate candidates they have previously scouted.
- Scientific excellence is the most important selection criterion.
- However, if the candidates are equally talented and suitable, additional points are awarded for the previous scouting and for supporting diversity initiatives.
This provides further incentive to become involved in the cluster and the university beyond pure research.
Female Empowerment
The Cluster relies on a broad portfolio of measures to increase the visibility of female scientists and create role models for the next generation. In addition to the Mildred Dresselhaus Program, targeted measures were initiated in 2021 to increase the proportion of women, focusing on recruitment procedures.
First, binding standards were defined and sent to hiring members for every new recruitment process. The goal is to minimize the impact of unconscious bias and structural disadvantages. Members can seek advice on how to implement the generally applicable standards if necessary. These consultations can be supplemented by mini-workshops.
