Who we are
Since 2012, scientific teams from the fields of physics, chemistry, and molecular biology have been working together at the. The Hamburg Centre for Ultrafast Imaging (CUI). Following two funding periods from 2012 to 2018 and from 2019 to 2025, the cluster “CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter” was renewed on 1 January 2026 for a further funding period until 2032 and continues with the following structure:

In recent years, major investments in photon and nanosciences have attracted some of the world's leading research groups to Hamburg, joining the city's well-established research community. The cluster's groups are led by principal investigators, early-career investigators, associated investigators, and international partners, and are supported by a further 170 team members.
