At the end of February, the European XFEL invited participants of the dynaMENT program to a guided tour and "Meet & Greet" on their campus in Schenefeld. After the latest insights into research at the XFEL by scientist Christina Bömer, the scientists had the opportunity to visit the research facilities, which are located 20 metres underground.
After the tour, they had the opportunity for a very personal and intensive exchange with the Administrative Director Dr. Nicole Elleuche and the Scientific Director Prof. Dr. Sakura Pascarelli. They exchanged thoughts and experiences on topics such as family-friendly meeting times, leading a group as a parent, normalisation of paternity leave and the question of when additional management qualifications might be useful. "We were able to gain very personal and open insights into the experiences of the two directors. It was very inspiring and authentic", says Anika Ostermaier-Grabow, dynaMENT coordinator in the cluster of excellence "CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter".
After a joint lunch, the dynaMENT scientists were invited to a reception in honor of the "International Day of Women and Girls in Science".
The dynaMENT mentoring program is a joint project of DESY and the MIN Faculty of Universität Hamburg, supported by the two Clusters of Excellence "CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter" and "Quantum Universe".
