Female physicists at all career levels from industry, business and research have the opportunity to exchange information about current research results, trends and work situations of women in physics and to participate in targeted networking events.
During the conference there will be the opportunity to build networks, to participate in personal further education measures, to present their own work as a poster or lecture, to hear keynote speakers talk about their career and work, or to get to know possible career paths for female physicists. The conference will also focus on gender equality and the new challenges in times of Corona.
Discussions, workshops, lab tours
In addition to technical discussions, workshops and virtual lab tours, the Diversity and Equal Opportunities Department will offer interactive workshops for participants. Topics such as the exchange about (collective) experiences with sexism are in the focus here. Based on their own experiences and those of others, active strategies for future action are developed to strengthen the researchers. "The participants should leave the conference with a toolbox full of different, effective strategies for dealing with sexist situations in everyday work", explains Eileen Schwanold, Diversity & Equal Opportunity Manager in the Cluster of Excellence "CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter" and co-organizer of the Women Physicists' Conference.
A conference for people on different career stages
The Women Physicists' Conference brings together all the different career stages. All those who feel connected to physics and equality in physics are invited - whether as pupils or students, lecturers, researchers, teachers, economic physicists or sociologists in this field. The Online Women Physicists' Conference in Hamburg is an independent conference not organised by the DPG. On the fringes of this event, the annual general meeting of the DPG's equal opportunities working group will be held on 7 November 2020.
