Film meets research - twice over: Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld is hosting the short film tour “A Wall is a Screen” on 15 May 2026, and 5 June 2026. Researchers from the Clusters of Excellence “CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter” and “Quantum Universe” will provide the scientific context.

“A Wall is a Screen” uses mobile projection technology to move from wall to wall and film to film. The program is a secret; only the starting location will be announced. But one thing is certain: between particle accelerators and hybrid nanostructures, there’s plenty of room to show short films—ranging from thrilling to scientific—and topped off with brief scientific talks.

For both events, the University of Hamburg and its Clusters of Excellence CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter and Quantum Universe are collaborating with the Hamburg Short Film Festival. Admission is free; no registration is required. The films are shown in their original language. Subtitles are always in English or German.
