Art & Science at the Café on Mittelweg

Ten scientific pictures with brief information about each picture are on display in the café. They are complemented by three panels with explanations of the “Arts & Science” concept, the cluster and the Bahrenfeld campus.

Coffee and science at the same time? This is possible at the Café of the Studierendenwerk on Mittelweg. A selection of impressive pictures from the exhibition "Arts & Science" of the Cluster of Excellence "CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter" offers fascinating insights into the cluster's research topics.

The images captivate with their vivid colors and diverse structures. Only at second glance does it become clear that these are the results of basic research. It is up to the viewer to enjoy the beauty of the images or to read the accompanying texts for an introduction to the underlying physics, chemistry, and structural biology.

Other images from the exhibition, which has already been shown in the foyer of Hamburg City Hall and at the airport, are permanently displayed at the Hamburg Advanced Research Center for Bioorganic Chemistry (HARBOR) on the Bahrenfeld campus.  School classes, students and other visitor groups from Germany and abroad can experience the research campus from an additional aesthetic perspective.

The pictures will be on display on Mittelweg for an extended period.
