During a visit to the Center for Optical Quantum Technologies at Universität Hamburg, Hamburg's First Mayor Dr. Peter Tschentscher got a comprehensive picture of the new quantum computer project "Rymax-One". The Hamburg project leaders Prof. Dr. Henning Moritz, Prof. Dr. Peter Schmelcher and Prof. Dr. Klaus Sengstock presented the concepts and the concrete implementation in the laboratory.
The goal of "Rymax-One" is to develop a quantum computer that can calculate real-world problems, such as in logistics, faster than current computer systems. The project has been funded for five years since December 2021 by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) with a total funding amount of approximately 25 million euros as part of the funding measure "Quantum Computer Demonstration Setups".
