Prof. Dr. Christoph Schweigert from the Department of Mathematics and Prof. Dr. Roland Wiesendanger from the Department of Physics and the Cluster of Excellence "CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter" were selected by an interdisciplinary committee for the Henriette Herz Scouting Programme. This means that no less than two scientists from the MIN faculty will act as so-called Humboldt Scouts to recruit research talents from all over the world for a Humboldt Fellowship at Universität Hamburg.
Each scout can propose up to three excellent international junior researchers for sponsorship within the framework of the Humboldt Research Fellowship. The junior researchers will be awarded a Humboldt Research Fellowship directly after the formal requirements have been checked.
With the Henriette Herz Scouting Programme, which was announced for the first time in May 2020, the Humboldt Foundation would like to open up a new approach to the Humboldt Research Fellowship Programme in order to attract researchers to collaborate with a research institution in Germany and the Humboldt Network who, for various reasons, do not apply for a fellowship from the Foundation themselves. This is intended to reach new specialist and regional target groups and at the same time increase the proportion of women sponsored in the research fellowship program, as the scouts' first proposal is to be to a female scientist.
The Henriette Herz Scouting Programme will award up to 100 additional research grants annually. The second round of selection for scouts will take place in May 2021. The Henriette Herz Scouting Program is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. German text: Heiko Fuchs, English version: Ingeborg Adler
