Research groups around the world are looking for possible active ingredients against the coronavirus. Scientists from the Universität Hamburg are also involved. On the campus in Bahrenfeld, a series of experiments on various key proteins that could play a role in the use of an active substance has now begun.
Prof. Dr. Dr. Christian Betzel and Prof. Dr. Arwen Pearson from the Cluster of Excellence "CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter" at Universität Hamburg, in a team with scientists from DESY, are using the DESY X-ray light source PETRA III to investigate the molecular structures of various corona-relevant proteins to which a possible antidote could dock.
