Eight million euros for research into light-matter interactions

Three researchers from the Universität Hamburg, Uppsala University in Sweden and Radboud University in the Netherlands will receive an eight million euro Synergy Grant from the European Research Council (ERC) for outstanding research teams.
For six years, Prof. Dr. Alexander Lichtenstein from the Department of Physics at the Universität Hamburg and the European XFEL, together with Prof. Dr. Olle Eriksson from Sweden and Prof. Dr. Mikhail Katsnelson from the Netherlands, will develop new theoretical foundations to close gaps in knowledge that have arisen in experiments with the X-ray laser European XFEL.
