9th grade girls are regular visitors at Universität Hamburg’s chemistry school lab „Molecules & Schools“, where they spend a whole day researching nano science. For example, they create a „chemical sunset“ and an artificial lotus effect. The school lab wants to give insight into the complex world of chemistry, arouse the girls' interest in natural sciences, and foster their enthusiasm for experimenting. We recently spent a day with the students.

The school lab "Molecules & Schools" is financially supported by the cluster of excellence “CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter” and promotes mint:pink, a program of the NAT Initiative.

Here's to another seven years!
Great success for the Center of Excellence CUI: From 1 January 2026, the Cluster of Excellence “CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter” will be funded for a further seven years as part of the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments.
