Dreh meinen Film (Workshop in German)

We invited girls aged 12 to 15 who are interested in science to visit us at the Bahrenfeld research campus to get to know one of our female scientists and make a mini-documentary about her in groups of two or three. 

In preparation, there was a workshop in which the necessary know-how was taught: How does the camera work? Which locations are suitable? How should the light be? How should I ask, can I ask everything? An agency specializing in film provided the necessary tools for the shoot and then helped with editing the material until the film was finished.

Dr Carolin Seuring is a specialist in electron microscopy. She uses the microscope to take pictures of tiny events in the cells of viruses or bacteria.

Dreh meinen Film... Jessica Harich

Jessica Harich is a research assistant and is also working on her PhD in time-resolved X-ray spectroscopy. She uses UV lasers to trigger reactions and then observes what happens.

Archive: First Workshop

  • When: 26, 27 and 28 August 2024

  • Where: Luruper Chaussee 149, HARBOR (building 610)

  • How: Accompanied by a professional agency

  • Why: Have fun making a film and learn about research and the everyday life of a scientist.

  • Participation was free of charge.

At the end, the girls and their families were invited to a final meeting, at which all films were presented. Each team got to keep their film; the best film was selected by a jury and received a small prize: A fun film evening.
