On June 12, 2020, the new building "Haus der Lehre - Light & Schools" was handed over to the Department of Physics and the Cluster of Excellence "CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter".
After delays due to the corona pandemic, the scientists can now start furnishing the rooms on a total of 586 square meters of floor space. The building on the Bahrenfeld campus on Luruper Chaussee will be home to the advanced practical training that students will be required to complete in their physics studies and the physics school laboratory "Light & Schools" of Universität Hamburg. Here students learn, for example, how the coldest atoms in the world are produced. In the new building, state-of-the-art rooms and equipment from the field of optical quantum technologies are available for teaching.
