This event takes place on 11th February 2021 - the United Nations International Day of Women and Girls in Science. It is also part of the theme year “Careers in academia?"
In 2018, only 25% of all professorships in Germany were held by women* - i.e. 75% were held by men*. However, the proportion of doctoral degrees completed by female academics has risen to around 45% within the last 10 years. Among graduates, the proportion of women with around 51% remains stable. Against this background and despite numerous nationwide funding programs to enhance the number of leading female academics, the question arises as to how more women* can ultimately reach a professorship. This is by no means merely a question of gender equality; rather, social origin, migration experience, or factors of impairment also play a significant role.
The HRA, the Center for Gender and Diversity, and the Equal Opportunities Unit offer a question and answer format in which you can ask any question you have every had concerning a career in academia. Six renowned female academics* from different subject areas and backgrounds are available as experts and will share their experiences with you e.g. in the acquisition highly competitive third party funding or different career paths to professorship. Use this exciting opportunity of informal exchange to boost your career!
